 E ao fim 30min de luta intensa, apenas acompanhado de hench e heroes, derrotei Abaddon e viajei até o Throne of Secrets… Este é o genérico final, iluminado por um fogo de artifício (muito parecido com o final do Factions…). Finalmente, a Maria tem a sua primeval armour 😀

Algumas definições de guilda… Nos MMOG, claro!


In online computer games players form groups called Player guilds who perform some of the functions of ancient guilds. They organize group activities, regulate member behavior, exclude non-conforming individuals, and react as a group when member safety or some aspect of guild life is threatened. In games where fictional “building” is possible they may cooperate on projects in their online world. The practice was taken from the Guilds in the quasi-medieval settings of the role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons. The first computer implementation was in the ground-breaking MUD Avalon. The first graphical online RPG to provide guilds was Neverwinter Nights, which ran from 1991 to 1997 on AOL.

Player guilds are organizations that ally themselves with one of the two cities in-game (Qeynos or Freeport). These organizations are created to support the factions in each of these cities (currently there are 5 factions in-game for Qeynos and Freeport). “Guilded” players of the same city may ally themselves with any of the faction groups within their home city in order to gain experience and levels for the guild as well as personal status. This translates into rewards from not only the faction, but also the city itself. Player Guilds can have two types of members: Patrons and Followers


Guilds are the primary community connection of Guild Wars. They’re used in the Guild versus Guild GvG battles.


A guild is a voluntarily-joined group of players that share similar interests and/or pursuits. You can either start your own guild by performing the Guild Quest, or be invited to join an existing Guild.


A Regiment, also known as a Guild, occasionally also known as a clan, is an association of players. Technically, a guild needs not be limited to any particular game, but in the context of WAR a Regiment is an ingame group of players fighting under the same flag.

In most games, guilds are afforded a few advantages over non-guilded players, such as a shared chat channel accessible only to members of the guild and the ability to see when other guild members are online. Other things that have been included in other MMOs have been guild housing, guild traders and assorted other options. Exactly which, if any, of these will be available in WAR remains to be seen. The fact that WAR will have some kind of guilds, however, is pretty much a given. Guilds tend to facilitate development of communities and thereby player loyalty in a significant way.

Generally, guilds are organized in a hierarchical structure, with one person acting as guild leader, a small group of guild officers and a larger number of guild members.


The word “guild” is used two different ways in EQ and they have nothing to do with each other.  In the game’s cities there are buildings called class guilds (the warrior guild in Kaladim, say); not every city has a guild for every class.  In each guild are NPCs you interact with: one or more guildmasters where you train your character’s skills, and vendors where you can buy your spells and some other stuff.

The other form of guild is player guilds, which are voluntary associations formed and managed by players themselves on each server.  The name of the guild displays in the game under the character’s name, and guilds get their own private chat channels in-game and access to the Guild Hall, a special zone with amenities suited to guild-related activities.  Many guilds have websites with discussion forums and schedules of group outings in the game.


It is a sort of figthers’ club. In a guild, people associate and agree to a common goal, thus introducing a specific, personal goal in the game. A guild has a leader, can have its own logo, website, and its headquarters where to have meetings and store valuable items.


The literal interpretation of a guild in WoW is any player in the game who shares a common “group tag” underneath their name. Having a “guild” allows player access to a special “guild-only” chat, which can usually aid in group finding or other game assistance, as well as simple chat rooms without the hussle of attempting to chat in the game’s general channels.

For all players, a guild is a team of players they can identify with. There’s some “social” aspect of having a guild tag. Whether it be for noteriety “My guild has the best PVP group on the server” “My guild has killed X boss”; or whether it for simple help when needed? The social aspect of having a guild tag can help in areas of the game that could be extremely difficult to have otherwise. An example would be that extremely powerful enchants are often times difficult to get for the normal player, but easy to get when they have access to the “guild bank”. They may find the grouping to be easier and less of a hassle, with guilds capable of having X amount of players on that share similar experience in the game and desire to progress. So a group that may take 2 hours to form with “PUG(Pickup Group) players may only take 15 minutes with a guild group. The runs may be faster, as each player knows and expects what is happening with other players. And a guild may be useful in finding larger, more organized groups for the raiding content of the game.

There are a lot of reasons why people join, create, and hop guilds. And for each player, this is entirely different–but we all can agree on one thing. We want to progress in the game, to accomplish, and be admired. And we’ll do whatever it takes to get that.


A guild, or PA (short for Player Association) is an organization, an association, of players within a game all following the same “flag” or credo under the leadership and guidance of one or sometimes multiple leaders. Generally players in PA’s are like minded individuals assembled for any number of reasons.


A guild is a group of players that join together for companionship, adventure, economic gain and more.
Guilds offer many benefits including free items, opportunities for groups, access to trade skill masters, quest items, and readily available trade skill ingredients through gathering guild members. You may discover that a guild greatly enhances your gameplay experience. You can meet friends, share adventures, and find people to protect you if you fight in faction versus faction combat. Typically, players in good guilds can go places and do things that players in poor guilds or no guild can’t. This is especially the case at maximum character level (70), where the dungeons become very challenging.

Keep in mind that guilds are run by players and not Blizzard. The quality of the guild and the guild experience depends entirely on the players in that guild. Guilds can be a grab bag where you never know what you’ll get. Every guild is different.

Doom na arte

Através da Joystick fiquei a saber que o XXIII Festival Internacional de Sarajevo abriu assim:

Face of Doom é uma instalação de Damiano Colacito, artista italiano da “Game Art scene”. Podem ler uma entrevista com o artista aqui. Para mim, o aspesto interessante a destacar é a apropriação de ícones culturais dos videojogos para a produção/expressão artística. Parece-me claro que estas “referências” irão multiplicar-se à medida que a geração “old skool” gamer dos anos 80/90 (hoje na casa dos 30), aqueles que começaram no Spectrum 48k e afins, atinge maior protagonismo… A esta geração, juntem todas as que vieram depois 😀

Desde 2003 que estou à espera dele… S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. Já havia rumores que nunca iria ver a luz do dia mas eis que a notícia me apanha de surpresa: sai em Março!!!!

Lembro-me de, em 2004, experimentar uma alpha build (acho que roubada dos devs) e explorar estes cenários… Vejam a qualidade das texturas!

Ora aqui “o” screenshot que explica o conceito de “farmar”… Está lá tudo. Imaginem agora que este guerreiro fica ali uma hora (ou mais!) a matar monstros, apanhar os drops, aguarda pelo respawn dos monstros e… volta a matar. É o farming clássico, ele é o farmer e está num farming field ou area:)

Foi tirado no Silkroad, há um par de meses, quando por lá passei em visita de estudo 😀

A ascensão às estrelas

A ascensão, em Cantha, chama-se Weh no Su (significa, “próximo das estrelas”). Nahpui, localidade onde se começa a missão (derrotar 4 criaturas celestiais e os respectivos minions), está decorada com uns monumentos muito curiosos que representam 4 constelações, as 4 criaturas celestiais que temos de derrotar na missão.



Este é Suun, o Oracle of the Mists, o líder da cidade e quem nos orienta para a missão.



Durante a missão,  os combates com as criaturas celestiais criam estes cenários cheios de cor e luz.

a surpresa do factor humano

Um dos aspectos que mais gosto neste jogo é a surpresa do factor humano 🙂 É possível ir a caminho do merchant de Lion’s Arch e encontrar alguém a dançar com uma cabeça de abóbora…


 …ou estar a descansar em Shing Jea e aparecer alguém que decide “tocar tambor” na minha cabeça 😀
